Sadly for us incentives aren’t necessary when there is very little supply. I have been reading that new car production in general across all brands could be permanently reduced because the manufacturers and dealers now realize that a limited supply of vehicles on hand increases profits for both the dealers and the manufacturers, with fewer factory incentives needed and much reduced floor plan interest. Many dealers are now charging full MSRP or higher and if a customer walks there is another right behind who will pay the full price of admission. I was shopping for a 2021 Kia Forte GT 6M last week and the dealer wanted over MSRP, said they “needed to manage their inventory” and the Korean automakers supposedly aren’t affected by the chip shortage.
