Y'all don't seem to remember the 3rd and 4th generation then. The 3rd gen was basically a sticker package, until 1987 when the IROC Z with automatic transmissions got the 350 w/ 225 neck breaking HP.
Then there was the 4th Gen, where all V8's were Z28's with the exception of the SS version.
So it was really only the first and the fifth generations where the badge held any real significance.
Not saying they should do that again, but if they put the supercharged LT5 in the Z 1LE and called it a Z/28 I certainly would not call it blasphemy.
