I’ve been looking at this lately and it seems you can only go up 10 in width on the same rim with same profile. So in your case you could probably do 255/45-20 on the OEM rim. The higher the profile (2nd number) you can fudge wider widths but then overall diameter starts being a problem.
245/40-20 is stock tire on the front of an SS, and people here have reported going to 255/40-20 without an issue.
If you get to a point where front/rear diameters are much different you also start getting issues with Stabilitrac faulting (so I’ve read here).
