I've had slight belt squeal on a couple takeoffs with a/c on in my 70k mile experience, never shredded a belt though. But stuff happens. OP may have hit it just right to make the belt jump, and that's all it takes sometimes. Replace the belt and move on, I say. It's a sub 20 dollar fix, maybe half an hour if you do it yourself
Now if it happens every two weeks, then you have some issues (my old LS1 Camaro shredded them a lot, because the compressor was beginning to seize).
