On the other hand, the stock intake is already a CAI and this crap is just for aesthetics mostly anyway. Most, if not all, of your improvement comes from having a less restrictive air filter ...which you can do with a drop-in.

Totally agree! I just did a drop in filter along with the Airaid intake tube. For $150 brand new I'm probably missing maybe 3 hp compared to a full on aftermarket CAI
