Good idea! It takes time to make it look perfect. But definitely worth it when its done.

I ended up doing the same and then used a heat gun to reshape the end so it snugs up to the edge of the rock guard, then plastic-welded close the end using some of the plastic I had cut off. Still a work in progress but I'll post pics when I'm done (since the description above is probably not easy to envision). 😁👍🏼
