Granted, I wouldn't call the rear legroom or headroom ample or very comfortable for an adult on long drives, but I have 3 kids, ages 9 through 14, and they are just fine in the back seat even behind me. I am 6' 2" and 195 lbs.
All that said, definitely check a ZL1 out personally at a local dealership to see how the legroom situation feels to you and your family specifically.
(This is about the coupe, by the way , I don't know for sure if the convertible has the same rear legroom, but its overall dimensions are the same, so I'd wager it does.)

Lol I'm only 6 foot 190. And my seat is barely leaned back.
