You have to wonder how much marketing and designers ponder how much "popular colors" are self perpetuated by lack of customer information/engagement and dealers ordering thought-to-be, pre-determined "good" colors for general stock... (hint: I've actually inquired about this)

I wonder about that too. I remember talking to Al Openheiser at a show and he said Hyper Blue might be the color you want your neighbor to get. It's the only color I even considered after Cyber Gray. Hyper Blue now seems to be the most popular color. Dang it! No regrets though.
