TSBs are free under powertrain warranty, once that expires, you're on your own. Well, technically you might argue a preexisting condition, but I'm not sure you'll get very far with that, since you just bought the car... you might have a case if there are previous service records that indicate an attempt at fixing the problem.

The shudder may have advanced to a point where the TC clutch is too worn, but that's impossible to tell without pulling the transmission. I would probably request a new torque converter (and obviously the new fluid) to make sure the shudder does not return.
