The Corvette video was dubbed sound from an old C1 that Duntov drove...

That said - arguing that autos and DCTs are faster, so manuals should die is far and above the dumbest argument in support of Autos or DCTs only.

Think about it, if that's your basis for manuals to die...then why, for over 50 years, have autos still been an option in Corvette's and Camaro's - they were slower at every point in history until now...and they are barely faster than a current manual when a Pro drives both (see Randy P's lap times with the same car in Manual and Auto).

I will argue for the option to have a manual, in the same way you can argue the autos should have been an option in the past and should continue to be. More options are better for enthusiasts, not less. If you think otherwise, you are a fanboy and not an enthusiast.

Last, since lap times, and shift speeds are being discussed, whom here holds any production car lap records...at any track? I sure don't, I have to pay to participate in drag racing, Auto-X, and road course racing. I also have to pay for my performance cars. For me to get the most value for my dollar, I want the most engaging driving experience I can get, which included manually manipulating a transmission - for me. I am not saying you shouldn't have the option to have an Auto or DCT, but those are worthless in my performance per dollar equation.

Conclusion - we should be advocate for options, not the other way around. But to slander manuals over a slight edge in performance for the first time ever, is the weakest argument I've ever seen to support their demise.
