As for the piston.....
In the picture you have of the top of the piston. Look at about the 8 o’clock position, left lower side right at the cylinder wall. Is it just me or is there a Knick out of the edge of the piston?
I think you are seeing the topography of the combustion chamber on the piston head. There's no knicks out of the edge of the piston just really small knicks in the top near the sides but like someone else said it looks like something was banging around in there.
