Yeah, I guess I knew NASA didn't pay for the development. And it did result in the ball point pen.
I worked construction for many years and very quickly learned that pens do not work well in the cold and will leak if they get too hot.

I have a couple mechanical pencils in my Camaro. I'm not too worried about flammability or dust. And, of course, a notepad.
