‘84 Ford Escort EXP, frogface edition. 60k on the odo, broke down 4 times in the first 6 months I had it.

‘87 Mustang GT. Stripper, AC only option.

‘88 Mustang LX 5.0. That one was loaded with every available option except auto trans (thank god).

‘90 Nissan 240sx. That one had 4-wheel steering. Got into competition audio with that one, back in the glory days of American-made amps that took up half the trunk, heated the cabin in the winter, and burned up alternators monthly.

‘98 Mustang GT convertible. I was a real Mustang fanatic. Knew full well the car was an absolute dog, but didn’t really grasp until a V6 Mitsu Eclipse tried to race me and I couldn’t pull on him. Buddy of mine, a Chevy guy, dared me to go test drive an LS1 f-body knowing how much I hated them.

‘01 Camaro Z28. That buddy was a salesman at the local Chevy dealer. He never stopped bragging about converting a life-long Ford guy to a Camaro. Had it 13 years and still regret selling it, but my hand was forced due to circumstances.

‘05 Pontiac Vibe, current. Needed a cheap economy car and figured out I could get a Toyota Matrix for a Pontiac price. One of the best financial decisions I’ve made, paid $9k with 80k on the odo, now pushing 230k with a new interior fan being the one and only repair this car has needed. Blow-your-brains-out boring, but I would have never believed a car could be this reliable.

‘20 2SS at or around the end of this year, an anniversary present to myself for five years of sobriety from alcoholism. Will be custom ordering this one as soon as I have at least $20k set aside for mods. I intend to keep it forever so it will be 100% of everything I want.
