The $65,000 6th gen ZL1 that became available to the public over 2 years ago was never meant to compete with a 2020 740+ HP DCT GT500. Period. The fact that it still does and will compete, especially around a round course, is a testament, not a takeaway. Plus, the GT500's street price of likely $85,000-$100,000 is going to make the ZL1 still a bargain buy when a few grand in mods will put you over the GT500's HP with less weight. I would still put my money on the handling of the alpha gen Camaro anyways. In my book, the ZL1/ZLE is still the best performance car on the market in the <$175,000 club. The only car that competes for the title is its brethren, the Corvette.

Impressive to see a pony car going 10.6 out of the box. But let's face it, for $80,000 new or mid 60's preowned, an A8 Z06 runs 10.5-11.0 all day as well. So what's really new? I guess I will wait for some VIR/'Ring/Seca/COTA times to come in before making my final judgement.

Though I may be a biased GM guy, I think the info I presented above is all fact.

No joke! For the money, a used C7 Z06 or a ZL1 cannot be beat!
