I'll be getting Carbotech's. I ran XP12's up front and XP10's out back on my '07 RS4 and they were phenomenal. The transition back to street pads (1521's, or "bobcats") was very nice and I had no issues. The only semi-related issue I had was I was starting to boil my fluid, but a quick bleed at the track fixed it.

And I agree that you shouldn't stick with one kind of pad because of word of mouth, maybe try another brand and see what you think. When I sold my RS4, I sent the track pads along with it and they had plenty of track sessions left on them.
