Yup, that's the tradeoff. Use runflats for a few miles in the relatively unlikely case of picking up a screw or chunk of metal, or switch to non-runflats for much better performance, ride and noise characteristics all the time except said unlikely case.

I fall squarely in the latter category with my non-runflat PS4S tires (and am carrying a bag of slime, just in case I'm ever out of range for the insurance tow I have on my policy).
