I totally agree with that. Case in point: I had the opportunity to run a stock LS1 Camaro at that track last year at the track. He ran a 13.5 at 104, and me at 13.8 at 104. Obviously the LS1 makes a lot more torque and weighs about the same as a 6th gen V6, but I'm thinking my better gearing and trans definitely helped
