This doesn't directly answer your question, but have you looked into battery packs to run your camera in parking mode? I have a BlackVue camera and I know they also make a battery pack that will run it for up to 20 hours without touching the car's battery. They ARE pricey, but they can either be hardwired or connected w/ the cigarette lighter to recharge the battery while the car is running so you don't accidentally drain the car. Thinkview may make a similar system, and though I have not tried it myself, I've seen comments online saying that the Blackvue batteries should work with anything as long as you can connect it to the battery. I admittedly have no idea how hard that is to accomplish...
