It's not just the Camaro, lots of other cars get confused like that. Most people can't tell Honda and Toyota apart, so...
When I had my RX-8, I once got a parking ticket that called it a Miata. Funny, because RX-8 is just a stretched NC Miata chassis-wise, but it sure is special to have a hard-top, 4-door, rotary-powered Miata, LOL.
