Hmm.. I don't think the discussion of drivetrain loss should be discarded. In fact, it directly relates to the formulas used in the calculations. But what do we REALLY know about the 8l45 or 8l90's drivetrain losses? Some stock dyno's? Let's not forget how notorious GM is for under-rating their engine outputs. Or the amount of variance between the same engines. 10hp might not seem like much, but on a 300hp engine, your talking about a 3% error right there. I have not seen anyone pull the engine for an engine dyno, followed by a re-installing the same engine for a chassis dyno. Even then, you get into dyno inconsistencies ect ect.. So it would be very difficult for me to place any HARD numbers on drivetrain loss. Very interesting subject that should be discussed.
