Well, they really do correlate...the point of the foam cannon is to create a mixture that lingers on the paint to help loosen up whatever contaminants are there. A "foam gun" that just uses the regular hose and some shampoo is less effective because there's too much water and it all just runs off too quickly.
Thank you for posting this though - it's going on my Amazon wish list. More foam!!
