I did remove the shield, takes a minute with my Kobalt 1/4" Ratchet, easy peasy. I can see where that would hold heat under the hood and not let it out. As far as the insulator it may be absorbing the heat and not letting it escape as it should. I'll remove it also and I'll get a Katech 174 as mention by 6spd. Thanks for your insight and hope it works.
