At low engine speeds the maf being so close to the TB, picks up backwash from the valves opening and closing, unavoidable with such a short distance.

Beleive me it is minor and will not happen on every car on those that experience it Custom tuning definately helps a bunch.

Some times you have to make Small sacrafices for Power.

Gram/Cyl, is the Air flow reported by the MAF with ultimately controls fueling and selection of timing cell on the timing map.

If you look you will see different timing recorded for each kit due to differences in Grams/Cyl reorted by MAF.
