Apex has a Saturday 9/8 date for the 3.1 that will only have 25 cars per run group. The Driver's Edge has 3.1 two day events the first weekends in October and November.
There is a motel that is decent right across from the track (Scottish Inn) or you can stay in Benbrook or southwest side of Ft. Worth at Hampton Inn or higher level or can stay in Granbury just south of the track. Plenty within 20 minutes or so drive. The Scottish Inn will give you a discount if you mention the group you are running with.
You will find the 3.1 much more challenging than COTA, though, without the rock star feeling you get when at COTA.
