Good question, and I haven't really paid attention to that although once I learned about the nuances of the various modes, I have been running with the nannies completely off the majority of the time (and the phantom revs have been happening more frequently). You may be on to something.
I'll run around with the nannies on a higher percentage of the time to test it out to see if my experience mirrors yours.
More often than not, I will do at least one first and second gear pull with redline shift daily and with the traction I get on dry pavement in AZ, I just prefer the feel with everything I can turn off being off (although I understand torque management is still there). It would be a hassle to mess around with modes even more frequently during each drive, however if I can be confident phantom revs will not occur if I'm in a certain mode it would be extremely helpful.
In addition, others have documented on PDR that no throttle was applied during the episode and I should probably try to catch an episode if I'll have any shot of having the dealer do anything other than roll their eyes at me when I take it in.
I really appreciate the input and suggestions. Ultimately we will likely come to a collective consensus with valuable observations from those experiencing the issue, paying attention to the variables. I'm sure it's something that can be fixed. Unlike the launching issue, I see no reason why GM wouldn't fix this issue once they are aware of it not being an isolated problem.
