I've noticed that the driving mode and lighting menus sometimes disappear for me, too. I think it's a startup sequence timing issue. I'm guessing that if certain things don't happen in the correct order during startup, some of the MyLink menus may not load properly.
Going with this theory, I experimented a bit and started "waking up" my car before starting it by unlocking the doors with the key fob, then locking it again. Then I either unlock again, get into the driver's seat, and start with button - - or I remote-start with the key fob (I have the A8).
Ever since I started doing this (more than 3 months ago), the menus have been there 100% of the time!
