Also 1 thing that every system has for $5-10K is poor quality source like the old Van Halen or Boston or Journey (non remastered audio updates) sounds poor because the lack of bass and the dynamics of the old 1/4" tapes lack that SQ! But with higher quality recordings like Dire Straits there SQ source can sound awesome. I got a remastered Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon sounds awesome, so the source is the most important part of a $5-10K system as it can't improve whats not there. I wished it did like Alpines sound DP did.

Yes, I think it's important at all levels

1. SOURCE -
most people think that all music on a usb is the same. They don't understand sampling rate, bit depth, and bit rate, and how a given mp3 (which is just one type of audio codec) file can run from sounding OK to really really good.

I have an audison bitplay HD, which is a digital source, running fiber optic to a digital amp and digital sound processor. As a unit, it is phenomenal because it also plays FLAC files. FLAC is a lossless audio codec which reproduces original recordings as good or better than any other format http://www.hdtracks.com/ I purchase my flac albums here.

2. DRIVERS - having the right source is where it starts, but if you play HD music through a tin can, it still sounds like crap. Drivers are very critical to reproducing music. I use Hybrid Audio technologies (HAT) drivers. I have done so for the past 10 years and have not regretted it. You should take a moment and read up on Scott Bewulda and HAT. Former sound engineer and audio competition guru who decided he would create a company with superior drivers for less than the competition. His speakers pretty much dominate every IASCA SQ competition around the world.

**note** I am not affiliated with HAT, I am not sponsored by them either. I switched from DYNAUDIO and FOCAL over to HAT, and have never been happier. These really are the best audio drivers I have ever heard, at any price point.

3. AMPLIFIERS - The right amplifier is almost as important as the right driver. You really take away from the driver when you power it with a low quality amplifier.

4. SOUND PROCESSOR - While sound processing is important regarding time alignment and imaging, I would argue that for 90% of individuals, it is the least important aspect, or less so than drivers and amplifiers.
