Think about it, the LT1 came out in 2014. Ford knew it was going to go into the Camaro and it's taking them until 2018MY Mustang to about match the power in Camaro. What reason is there for Chevy to improve SS horsepower this gen? They're really not behind.
I say focus on doing the best you can for the release of the new gen and make sure it can ride out 5-6 years. 7th gen Mustang and Camaro will be here in no time.
