Went to Atco last night....
Once again chasing the elusive 11s. These day we are so jaded, 11s are no big deal right? Yet an 11 second car is fast enough to be a boatload of fun and about the maximum that is useful on the street without putting other people and yourself at risk.
As for me as a kid I read everything I could about Motion Performance in NY. They were building 427 Novas, Camaros, and Chevelles that could run 11.5 in the 1/4 with slicks and open headers. (We called LTs headers back then.) This was the stuff of my dreams. I hoped someday I would own an 11 second Chevy Camaro.
The book!

Now this is my third 11 second Camaro. Little did I know back then how easy this can be these days. Like for a few grand you can put together a 4 door Nova with an iron truck LS block and Ebay turbos and a little welding. What I like about my current Camaro is that an 11 is possible on most nights if
I can make it happen. If this was easy, why would I bother. There goes the fun.
Last night the DA started around +1500 and went down to around 600 when I left. I did run 2 11s so it was a good night with an 11.992@119.86 at +1,000 DA and 11.978@118.18 at +600 DA. That second run was a little sloppy, but the car still came through. A good night!
Also I met Bob, an owner of a
CA6 ZL1 A10 in the best Camaro color MBM

. He has drag raced in the past but is just learning about the Web. So he may not show up here. He was not aware of Camaro6. He ran three times that I knew of 11.9 (first pass ever), 12.0, and 11.9. I did not catch his mph but I think it was well over 120. His 60's were around 2.0. When I left the DA was +500 and dropping.
I was hoping to line up with him as my SS M6 was running about the same times. Obviously with more seat time his car was capable of much more, but I think a great first outing. His plans are to run 20" NT555Rs full time like me. I did not influence him, that was already his plan. Use the stock back wheels to save $$ and get good traction on the street 24x7 in warm weather. No hassle of switching wheels for 1/2 of a tenth. His ZL1 is just his trophy car and will not see daily use. Nice guy, hope he comes back.
How will his car do in -1,000- DA with the Nittos?
