Thanks all for the responses - really valuable and just this thread alone shows what a great community this is with respect for different views...

My background: I'm mid-40's, recently moved over from UK so used to European cars and looking for the thrill of American muscle. As much as I can manipulate spreadsheets to try and justify the creature comforts, having had bare bones cars in the past like a Lotus Elise I'd always prioritize the driving experience and am happy with a purer drive even if this will be my daily driver...

I'm test driving a 1SS on Saturday - it's the cheapest new 1SS in the area at 33K but it's A8 and (again coming from UK where 80% of new car sales are still manual) I think I'd prefer a 6MT. I'm not in a hurry but trying to compare the likely reduction in Camaro price over the next couple of months against the depreciation of my 2016 Focus ST that I'll look to sell/trade. Although I'm leaning to the V8, I do feel inspired to check out the V6 but really appreciate the details shared re: depreciation, running costs etc.
