They are almost identical, but there is a jump in fuel costs between the two. Around $600 more a year if you drive it to get the EPA numbers. But if you are driving a V8 like you should, I can guarantee you use use burn more gas than similar driving in the V6.
Regardless it is a valid discussion unless the OP says he's got the money to spend on the "extra" expenses. But this is definitely one of the areas they are very close in cost.
