FYI, Soldering is not an SAE recommended wire loom repair as vibrations can/will eventually fracture the soldered joint.

Tinning wire ends is OK to prep for insertion into a Molex or other SAE approved automotive connector. Soldering in Automotive PC Boards and internal components is also Ok.

Isn't this issue covered under the GM Warranty?

I'd replace that entire portion of the factory loom.
