With how loose my converter is I need the top end shift extension of the ported MSD to mph on the top end. On the stock converter I am still going to lean towards the ported stocker being faster due to the tq gains over the ported MSD.
I didn't swap them at the Fest for a couple of reasons. I didn't have time to get all of my shift points and converter lock up dialed in for the ported MSD to make it a fair comparison. The drop in rpm from 2nd to 3rd was putting the MSD in a crappy spot for tq which was hurting the overall performance on the track. The ported stocker hits hard in that area and pulls right through the rpm drop. I also built a custom exhaust that is causing some of the ported MSD's perceived gains at this moment. I didn't get to run my ported stocker with the exhaust mods. The street logs I did on the ported stocker showed that there were top end gains made for sure.
My buddy and I are going to rent the track soon so I will have the time to get both combo's dialed in for a fair and impartial comparison between the two with them both being dialed in. So more to come on that side.
