If the car pushes in some corners and is lose in others that no fun for sure, as predictability of handling is king IMO. My Vette's handling changed completely (for the better) when I swapped F from 275/40/17 to 275/35/18 due to a much shorter sidewall (same tire) plus .5 wider wheel.
305 vs 315 sidewall is virtually the same BTW.
There might be just enough difference between a 285 and 305 sidewall size to cause issues even on
.5 wider wheel. Just speculating here tho.
