I've run many different tires over the years on many different cars. I ran a set of 555's (originals not the G2) a few years back mostly for the price. I've driven on the new G2's and found them an improvement but not drastically so.

IMO they are a compromise mid-tier tire. They are affordable with descent traction and good treadwear. Tires, like a lot of things these days are very subjective. You have to weigh the different aspects of what's important in a tire and buy accordingly. Most people will find price the most important factor before moving on to things like traction, ride quality, stability, adverse weather handeling, etc.

After having had many sets of performance tires, I find that trying to save a couple hundred bucks on tires are not worth the trade off. If I was looking for a excellent all-around performance tire I'd be between the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Continental ExtremeContact Sport.
