Went over the RPM limit (not once the break-in speed limit) exactly 4 times, and yes I was really counting. Each time but one it was above 500 miles and by maybe 200-300 RPM, just enough to show some blue past the white hash mark for 4k on the HUD - kind of for the same reason that I go 5-10 over the legal speed limit: because you told me I couldn't! LOL. The remaining time was above 1000 miles and sort of an emergency situation, but not enough of one that I couldn't still be mindful that I was nearing 5k and realized it was time to slow the engine down. So, clearly not much of an emergency, really.

Maybe so, and to each their own, but I still have funny ideas about being the only owner now, at over 2100 miles. And memories of oil consumption with my 2010 LLT V6 that I traded in for this one after NOT being as cautious with the break in. Plus, it's my first V8, so maybe I was breaking MYSELF in to having this much power as much as anything!

And yet, it's still in the manual as being required. I for one was willing to give the engineers and mechanics who contributed to writing it the benefit of the doubt, as they know more about the vehicle and its power train than you or I.
