If you turn a 11.5 at the strip one day, does that mean your car can run that same time every day you are at the strip regardless of weather? Of course not, but it doesn't mean your car isn't capable of doing it again or that it can't do better either. All you know is what you did that day under those conditions.
I got news for you, the racing world doesn't care about Ring times since there is no racing ever done on the course setup all these OEMs run their time on. Only internet bench racers use Ring times.
Now do racing teams and OEMs use the Ring for tuning and designing...without a doubt. That is the key benefit.
You realize there are drivers of different skills and cars running non-stock setups posting "official" Ring times? For example the new Type R recently posted a time there but the car was actually using R compound tires and a rollcage. Not really stock is it? There's no sanctioning body for the Ring times. It's basically up to the OEMs to decide what they run. Go take a look at that Giulia's latest Ring time and compare it to the ZL1. Do you really think it is that close to the ZL1's performance? Some idiots do but they can't explain how it ran almost the same time as a ATS-V at Chuckwalla.
So if we went with what you are suggesting, a 4 door Alfa which competes against a BMW and Caddy is actually competitive against a 5th gen Z/28 and a Honda Civic Type R is faster around a track than a Pagani Zonda C12 S and Audi R8 V10. Do you really believe that? Or do you see how utterly useless those Ring times are?

I am not valuing MT subjective scoring.. I am saying at any track, a car runs. It gets a time, whether it is 1/4 mile or what. The time is recorded and kept, date, time, etc. Period. That is all I am saying. Like such in the link below. That is all I am saying, nothing more nothing less. When someone asks, what did that car run, well what does anyone do or say. Look!! Here is what it ran. Don't make it more than what I am saying.
So every run counts on any given day or driver or car or wind or rain. It still counts. It is logged and kept in some method of keeping records.
