I understand that. But I still feel it is a slap in the face to the real winner and an insult to the loser.

Maybe so. But rightly so. People feel offended. What did MT think was gonna happen?

The GT350 has the largest flat plane crank v8 in existence. It rev's to the effing moon and has a crazy broad powerband. The exhaust note is beyond belief. The engine is entirely different than the stock GT. It's something special because of it's engine.
Compare that to the Zl1 that has the same engine as the SS, albeit upgraded to handle the power. It's akin to slapping a supercharger on my GT. Same engine (relatively speaking), more power.

I picked the ZL1 because in comparison the GT350R had nothing I wanted. To me, it is just a higher-revving GT with a fanci-er engine and crazy suspension. It felt under-powered and I could not justify buying a 12 second car for over $60K when that same price could get me a used Viper, used C6 ZR1, new 1LZ Z06, or a new ZL1. Each of those cars will beat the GT350 at everything, destroy it in the quarter mile, and cost the same. So the GT350R really is a waste of money. It is fun, but it is a waste. As far as revving high, well it isn't doing anything different than any other DOHC engine. They rev high. Applauding it for something it does naturally is like applauding the LT4 for making crazy torque down low. ALL DOHC engines rev high. It is nothing new or special.

As for the power-band, it is broad as hell, look at any dyno. The power-band isn't the entire curve, just the usable portion. Go back and look at the head to head and you'll notice the GT350 is able to hold the shifts longer throughout the entire course.
As for the interior, I'm sorry...I do hate the camaros. I hate the clawfoot instrument console and the slapped on nav screen. I hate the HVAC vents that blow on your damn nuts and hands. The seats look nice, but really that's it.
IMHO, I like the mustangs interior far better than the camaros...sorry. This of course should come as no surprise.
As for the cobras and gt500s...you're absolutely right. That's why the GT350 is that much more special. It has a unique, specially designed engine that is not found on any other vehicle.

The power band is nice and broad. But throw an aftermarket exhaust on and deal with that intense drone for more than a few thousand miles and you won't miss that car at all. Interior wise, the Mustang might be better due to better visibility. I'll give it a tie because I think they both have great interiors. But after a good few years when the seats in your Mustang look like a bobcat was locked in your car for 2 weeks you won't think so. The Camaro interior just feels much more durable to me. And again, I'm sorry but I do not think the GT350 is anything special. Not for the price when it either loses or gets destroyed by everything that costs the same amount of money.
