Seriously, I think Randy was playing for the camera like he does a lot. Remember the ZL1 episode driving the A10. He was making fun of it, saying "it's all automatic".
I think if there was a different driver, no camera, not getting paid for a tv show, things would be different. One time around the track does not a pattern make.
And the Sport Cup 2 tires do make a difference. Just like the Trofeo R's did on the Z28 compared to the Mustang on that day. Sticky tires make up for a lot. Like in drag racing. Kinda a no brainer.
