As others have said. New 1LE's are selling right at $39K with the 2018 just around the corner. If the dealer will give you an honest $35K for the car without a trade in then I would jump at that. Problem is they are more than likely padding the trade amount with money they plan to steal from you on the new car. If you simply walked up and tried to sell it to them my guess is closer to $32K.
I ran into the same issue shortly after buying my 2012 45th Anniv. The car was 6 months old with 1100 miles when I started a new job that required a car that got better mileage and that I could rely on daily. I tried selling it, trading it, selling to Carmax etc etc. Best offer I could get on the car at the time was $28K. Keep in mind that I paid $43K 6 months earlier.
When all was said and done it was almost a wash for me to simply go out and buy another car without selling the 45th. I was going to lose $15K on the Camaro but I was able to pick up a brand new 2012 Camry for $19K. Crazy but that's how it works. Figure 20% loss the moment you sign the papers. It sucks but that's the down side to buying GM or anything non-Japanese really.
