Age old question with NO good answers. You might start to assemble a consensus though.
Let it warm up. Drive it like you're going to drive it but don't beat it. (c'mon... let it be new for a minute!!)
Occasional forays to increasingly higher RPM's with cool downs in between are good for seating your rings. Engine braking pulls oil up into the head for better lubrication.
1000 miles... you're good to go.
I do a break in oil change but that's personal preference...
