I have the same question. From what I can see in HP tuners in my tune file, there are no adjustments in the ECM file to adjust launch control based on looking at the descriptions.

Under the idle section, there is a launch assist idle rpm, but the description says it is for manual transmissions. I have an A8 and the table is zeroed out.

So I'm not sure if maybe this is control by the TCM or another module? or maybe there are no other tables and maybe, in an automatic, it is controlled by brake torque management? And then maybe launch control uses the same wheel slip algorithm as normal traction control does?

I will change raise the brake torque management torque by 20% and report back. There is also a setting, that is enabled stock, that says if enabled, brake torque management can be disabled by traction control events. So I'm not sure if this means, when you put it into competitive mode and disable traction control, that its using something special when you do launch assist/control.

I feel like if we could understand this we could go a long way to getting better launches. I'm surprised how so many people say they don't use launch control at the track, and when they do they go slower? I would like to tune the TCS for a little more spin to see if it would help, anyone else ever experiment with drag radials and traction/launch control?
