Had a friend who used WD-40 to maintain his household revolver. If he took it out , he would douche it down with the stuff, reload it and stick it in the hall drawer.

One night he almost NEEDED to use it , but the Deputies showed up and took care of the nut job who was trying to break into his house.

Imagine my friends surprise when he found the gun was totally seized up. WD-40 will turn to a varnish like coating if applied enough times. I soaked the gun in solvent. Got it functioning again, but the AMMO was all ruined. WD-40 will penetrate and kill the primer.

NOT a huge fan of WD-40. There are far BETTER lubricants/cleaners out there.
