Not saying its ideal. But as the other member pointed out... adding a long twisting inlet to a blower robs power.
And if you have to spin the blower harder to make up for it, well that adds heat.
So really in some cases its the lesser of the two evils.

I thought that with how sealed off the engine bay is from the front and the bottom less air would be getting in there.
On my P1 C5Z I cleaned the air filter and gained a bunch of power so I know how critical the inlet side it.
