Well, you just came to the right place. It looks like you might be experiencing the same issue with my last 2016 (a8). Dealer thought it was transmission issue and reported to GM demanding a new transmission part. But GM didn't respond for 3 months... Long story short, they wrote me a check for full refund.
My suggestion:
Go to the dealer and have them fix it. Get yourself a nice loaner car.
If it's fixed, then just move on.
If you are unlucky like me, 30 days (at least in CA) and no update, call GM lemon car number and ask them nicely for a replacement or check.
