JBL made some of the best car speakers until the late 90s. My first car was a 1990 Betetta GT I bought in 1997 when I was 20. In 1998 I put a Pioneer CD head unit with a Pioneer amp and JBL speakers all around. 5 1/4" fronts and 6x9 rears. Better than anything I'd heard at the time.

The aftermarket car stereo market is not as popular as it was 20 years ago. Partly because manufacturers have improved factory systems and done a good job in making people think the factory system is really good when most, even our Bose, are average at best. I still think with $1500 bucks you can blow the Bose system out the water. I'm looking at Focals right now.
