If you can't get it to work you aren't doing it right, simple as that. If it jerks and slams, you're dumping the clutch.
Tuning the car or running F/I doesn't affect the NLS. It has a separate window in HP Tuners that is unaffected by fuel maps. You can adjust RPM and TPS activation windows but otherwise I can't see how a tune or boost would affect it.
