Simply that when closed you still have that opening (the cutout) for the exhaust to travel into and have to reverse direction to come back out into the main exhaust flow causing turbulence... One member posted in another thread found a cutout with a smooth exhaust flow when closed, but from what I gathered is not electronically activated (cutthroat exhaust/cutouts or something like that)
