There are some definite electronic differences. The 2017 ECM (engine) and TCM (transmission) have different 'security' settings and therefore are much harder to tune.
HP Tuners is the only one doing the 2017 that I know of. Current charges are 4 credits (200 bucks) for the ECM, and you first must generate an infolog which you send to HPT via email, then when they tell you your car is ready to be tuned, you must connect to the internet (laptop doing the flashing) the first time that you flash the ECM.
The TCM is a whole other ballgame. Must physically send the TCM to HPT to be unlocked, 200 bucks. Then must pay 4 credits (another 200 bucks) to license it for tuning.
For comparison, HPT charges 2 credits (100 bucks) for a 2016 and I think the TCM can also be done for that charge.
