Engine might be toast
So about a month back I started a thread concerning smoke coming out of my exhaust at a cold start after my 1500 mile oil change. Fast forward a month and 2 service visits about it later to today and the dealer had me come back in to replace the oil as they put a little too much in last oil change. They hoped this would resolve the smoking issue.
Picking up my car I noticed on the inventory sheet they had 10.5 quarts of oil listed. I raised this as odd to my service advisor as the V6 engines only hold 5.5 quarts. He seemed to disagree with me and brought the mechanic that replaced my oil out to my car and pulled my manual. The mechanic insisted he put 10 in and pointed to a 10.74 quart number, which to my astonishment didn't even realize he was looking at the coolant volume table. They then pulled the dip stick to check the level and showed me saying the oil level looked fine. Tired of arguing and not believing there was any way he fit 10 quarts in, I took their word.
Now 7 hours later on the way home from work on the highway, my transmission is hesitating to shift and my RPMs are getting high, and then a split second later my car is surrounded in a thick cloud of black smoke with my check engine light flashing. I've called my service advisor who has a loaner waiting and I'm on the side of the highway waiting for Chevy Roadside to pick me and my car up. I feel bad to a certain extent as the service advisor is a great guy, however I'm worried my engine may be done for.
